Osama bin Laden and the U.S. media

On October 13, the U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia wrote a document describing Osama bin Laden. In that document, some Saudis argued that the U.S. media had empowered him.
IN GENERAL, JEDDAH MERCHANT FAMILIES, MANY OF WHOSE MEMBERS KNOW USAMA FROM HIS YOUNGER DAYS, HAVE EMPHASIZED TO US THAT THE U.S. MEDIA IS ELEVATING USAMA AND GIVING HIM A POWER HE NEVER WOULD HAVE HAD OTHERWISE.
This, of course, implies that our media was working on behalf of our government in an attempt to empower Osama bin Laden and provides further evidence that he was an asset of our intelligence agencies.
